Inchie Tiles

I have loved creating these textile tiles, made in one large piece and then sliced into one inch squares and reassembled. It’s been great to plan the colour scheme and then use up lots of fabric scraps, plus using transfoil has always been one of my favourite things. I also love the serendipity of cutting up a large piece and seeing what little gems are created. Machine embroidery holds all the layers and cords in place in the first instance, and then after slicing the individual tiles were bonded to a background and then machined again with some gold thread to help them all stay butted up together. I made one large 5 x 5″ to fit the aperture in a frame I had and then another set of 3 x 3″ to make into cards, pictured below. Definitely something I would enjoy doing again!
