Recently I purchased some lovely vintage plates – six with different designs and then another set of crescent-shaped side plates to go with them. They were made in Italy and I love the simple hand painted designs.
Using these designs for inspiration I have made a concertina folded book, using bamboo pen and ink plus watercolours. The book is made from khadi paper as I originally intended to stitch into the drawings to add some detail but have now decided to leave as they are. I really like the idea of using these vegetable paintings in some sort of textile translation but for now they will stay in folded book form while I progress other things.
Great colours.

Thanks Amanda – not my usual colours but couldn’t resist a spot of turquoise!
