Scots Pines

DSC04194.JPG

This is the scene I had in mind when I did a workshop yesterday when the teacher Caroline Hyde-Brown said we would focus on scots pines. Although we looked at pictures of the trees in the Breckland area of Norfolk I had these magnificent specimens in mind from October of this year when we walked around St Anthony’s headland in Cornwall. You can just see the lighthouse in the distance through the trees.

We machined on water soluble and I have just laid the silhouettes on a piece of furnishing velvet which very helpfully had a moon bondawebbed onto it from a previous project – unfinished obviously! The trees won’t stay on this, they are going to be saved for next year when I have a whim to make one book each month – cloth or paper – based on the natural world or our walks.

Just looked at these again – trunks need to be much longer – looks like a clump of sprouting broccoli!
