The poppy Patty’s Plum in our garden is nearly over, the recent rain turning the edges brown – soon the petals will drop. Looking at the grey sky I thought I would try to capture them while they are still holding on – literally a five minute window before the rain. I used Caran D’Ache water-soluble wax pastels, which I rather like – quick and easy to use, only the small box of ten I purchased doesn’t have a very nice colour selection. The main thing that occurs to me though is that they are very transportable and would be ideal to take out on a walking trip.
