A good opportunity to do some hand stitching – this little piece was made purely to put a surface to use. At the Creative Stitch group I belong to we had collected tea bags to use in our textile work. After drying and removing the tea they can be used in all sorts of creative ways. Here they were simply opened up, coloured with Koh-I-Nor dyes and then bonded to a piece of silk. I painted the cone flowers on first and then stitched with a variety of threads, including ribbon. I did a very small amount of machine stitching on the centres, which were cut out of felt and then painted.
